Several cell phone companies now allow you to have unlimited OFF NETWORK calls. Like Sprint has Sprint to Home. And Alltel has a 10 number circle. In both cases there is no charge to make this call.

I found a VOIP company that has a feature I have not seen elsewhere(unless you do a asterisk server)

Check out voicestick.com. They have a cellular bridge at no extra cost.

So besides having a new phone line that is unlimited for the kids to use, I now have unlimited cell minutes.

All you do is tell Sprint to make this my ONE "Home" number.

Then program in your cell number into the voicestick bridge. Now just call your voip HOME number. Instead of ringing I get a new dial tone to call out on. Even if the kids are on the line, I still get a dial tone and new line. THIS IS INSANE!

I do the same for incoming calls. Set VoiceStick to call forward to the cell phone.

Voice stick has a standard deal like everyone else $20 for USA but did the Global deal for $5 more that gives me most of the world I call.

Now I just have the cheap $30 Sprint line, and my total phone/cell/LD bill is maybe $150 less amonth.

Reminds me of the time I forwarded a Sprint PCS store display phone to the PLA voice bridge so that I could have a free way to call the bridge on my Sprint PCS phone.

I bet it's not too much longer before all the cell carriers stop charging us by the minute.  I didn't know Alltel had a 10 number circle.  That's pretty cool.

I am for sure older then you guys, we had before local phone dereg sky high intra lata rates. I could call (then) 2000 miles for 15 cent p/m but 15 miles up the street it was 50 cents p/m/

I used (and sold) dial around services for a company called Call America (long gone)

I dropped my then monthly business bill from $800 a month to $200 a month.

And I agree, we will see $69 unlimited before we know it.

In some Metro areas they alread have unlimited $30 to $40 plans, but LD is sky high. THe VoiceStick thing for them would allow cheap 2 cent p/m LD on one of these plans.

I just love technology and phones. My mother says I need to seek help! (But she is 83 what does she know anyway)

I do this all the time with Skype and a USB phone bridge.

It was tried here in Canada on Fido's GSM service with their "City Fido" package. Unfortunately, their idea of "unlimited" was 2000 minutes, and some people were exceeding it. Needless to say, the package was dropped after six months. It was something around $40 CAD a month for the service.

$1 CAD = $0.91 USD. :)

So $40.00 CAD would be about $37.00 USD. :P

Your economy started to suck more. I live in a city where they're dying for workers; tech jobs are plentiful here.

OMG I THINK I JUST SPAMMED A SIX YEAR OLD ARTICLE. SORRY, FOLKS.

My own mediocre attempt at humor has been highly amusing to myself. in that article you said "f-rad"!

I remember that! It was the vulgar spin-off from "k-rad"!

I'd forgotten how much you used to talk like a fag.

I'm going to start using "f-rad" wll the time now.

And "bitchin" I'm gonna start saying "bitchin" too.
