Everyone click on that X on the top-left of the screen!  No sidebar!  Then click it again.  A sidebar! Later I'll make it so only members are allowed to turn off the sidebar.  Maybe I could even set it up so you can turn off different parts of the sidebar.  Like, get rid of ads only.  I tested it in Firefox and IE and it seems to work in both.  You have to have cookies enabled.  Let me know if it messes up for you.

<--- Look over there!  There's a new shade of blue in the "READ NEW POSTS" text.  Click on it and you'll see only new posts and not the entire threads that have new posts in them.  This will save you tons of scrolling time.  The other shade of blue reads it the old way.

Edit: Oh.  Damn.  It doesn't take posts that you read this way away from your "posts read."  I don't think it does, anyway.  So the forums won't know you've read these posts and it'll only show you the latest 10 posts.  I think.

What's everyone ELSE think?  I tried all kinds of different colors this evening.  I just want something that black will work on because I always end up with some of the stuff in the sidebar being white and some being black.   Like the shoutbox before.  The base text for the whole page either needs to be one or the other.  I tried lightening the maroon, but it was too pink.

Remember kids, blacks and whites shouldn't mix.

This could be nice. Darken the side bar brown and turn the yellowish color a beige or something so it matches better. Maybe make the grays shades of brown as well. It could be nice looking.

I can't really darken the sidebar, though.  The whole point is turning it into a color that can handle black text.  I can change the yellowish color, though.  Here's a color chart if anyone wants to make suggestions for either color:
