I read his e-book. He even admitted that, when he first came to YouTube, he was shunned for trying to start up his 'nalts' brand (his logo on hats, coffee mugs, etc.). But he also said that it was good in the long run because he was using YouTube to "supplement his income" (i.e. It's all business to him).

After he got famous, his videos got a fresh bukkake of real adverts: Officebreak.com, Mentos, GPS Maniac, XLNTads, Holiday Inn Express, iLabor, doMyStuff, and Crowne Plaza paid him to advertise. (thanks, Wikipedia!).

He has also appeared on: CNN, ABC Nightline, Good Morning America, CBS News, FOX News and Click.

So yeah, Nalts is a sellout. But who cares? If I had as many subscribes as him, I'd do the same thing. ;D

I don't see anything wrong with making money by doing what you love.  I sure have a lot of ads on my websites, though it mostly all goes to hosting and giving away free stuff.  I wouldn't be too ashamed if I made a nice profit though.

Yeah, but it seems the only reason Nalts is doing it is to make money. Or at least, that's what the people who call him a sellout claim. Which, if that's true, would make somebody a sellout imo. For example: If a country music singer realizes that rappers make more money, so he becomes a rapper even though he doesn't like anything about it, well, you get the idea. ;)
